Newcomer Program

We are excited to share with you our mission of supporting newcomers to Canada by removing barriers and providing opportunities through the incredible sport of cricket and other sports.

Thanks to the generous funding from CPRA’s REEO (Reaching Each and Every One) program (through Government of Canada), we have been able to make a significant impact on the lives of newcomers by addressing specific barriers they face during their integration journey.

In 2022, our first year of operation, we supported approximately 40 newcomers through organized cricket, creating a platform for cultural exchange, community engagement, and personal growth. With our partnership with the largest amateur global cricket league in the world (Last Man Stands), we provided these individuals with an inclusive and supportive environment to pursue their passion for cricket while fostering a sense of belonging.

Our focus for 2023 is to expand our reach and support a minimum of 60 newcomers and refugees. With your help, we can create even greater opportunities for these individuals to thrive and succeed in their new home.

Through our Newcomers Program, we aim to address the following key barriers:

  1. Language and Cultural Barriers: We provide language support and cultural integration initiatives to help newcomers adapt and feel comfortable in their new surroundings.
  2. Financial Constraints: By covering registration fees, equipment costs, and other cricket-related expenses, we ensure that financial limitations do not hinder newcomers from participating in the sport they love.
  3. Social Integration: Through cricket and other sports, we foster social connections, friendships, and a sense of belonging, creating a supportive network for newcomers to rely on.
  4. Skill Development: Our coaching and mentorship programs help newcomers enhance their cricket skills, boost confidence, and unlock their full potential.
